On October 2nd, as India honored the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, TPR India Foundation in collaboration with SEEKH Foundation, led a remarkable cleanliness drive at the Dhobi Ghat Community in Batla House, Yamuna Ghat, New Delhi. Joined by 13 other committed organizations, this initiative was not just a celebration of Gandhi’s legacy but also a proactive step toward environmental stewardship and the Climate Change Action Plan.
The Day of Action
The day began with volunteers gathering at Dhobi Ghat, filled with enthusiasm and determination. Equipped with gloves, trash bags, and a shared vision, participants worked tirelessly to clean public spaces, gather litter, and raise awareness about the significance of cleanliness.
As the cleanup progressed, TPR India Foundation’s Founder, Daniyal Ashraf, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the interconnectedness of cleanliness with our minds, bodies, and surroundings. He stated, “Cleanliness is not just about our physical environment; it profoundly impacts our mental well-being and overall health. A clean space fosters a clear mind, allowing us to think and act positively.”
His words resonated deeply with the volunteers, encouraging them to see the larger implications of their efforts.
The Impact of Collective Action
Throughout the day, the transformation of the Dhobi Ghat Community at Batla House was evident. Streets once cluttered with waste were revitalized, symbolizing the power of collective action. Volunteers engaged with local residents, encouraging them to embrace sustainable practices and take pride in their environment.
